Today starts the Sunset on Summer blog hop – My post for that is on a separate page – so I thought I’d make this week’s Tasty Tuesday a great fall ‘reading’ drink. I love hot chocolate and have experiment with several different recipes but this is my favorite – hands down. In the cooler months, one of my favorite escapes is to curl in fuzzy blanket, read, and sip on some hot chocolate.
1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
3/4 cup white sugar
1 pinch salt
1/3 cup boiling water
3 1/2 cups milk
3/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/2 cup half-and-half cream
Combine the cocoa, sugar and pinch of salt in a saucepan. Blend in the boiling water. Bring this mixture to an easy boil while you stir. Simmer and stir for about 2 minutes. Watch that it doesn’t scorch. Stir in 3 1/2 cups of milk and heat until very hot, but do not boil! Remove from heat and add vanilla. Add the cream to the cocoa to cool it to drinking temperature.
So make yourself a mug of cocoa and enjoy all the blog post for the Sunset on Summer blog hop that can be found here ~ (don’t forget to leave a comment so you have a chance to win) http://btsemag.com/contests/blog-hops-join/
