> What inspired you to write your first book? And at what age?

I don’t know if this counts as a first novel, but when I was nine I started writing a series of short stories about kids lost in space. Super original, I know. But at the time I felt like it was perfectly reasonable to for kids to survive on a wild alien planet without going “Lord of the Flies.” I grew up on old school sci-fi movies, thanks to my older parents and then, teenage siblings and that is why I wrote the “Nuke Valley” series. And also why I began my professional writing career with the “Heaven’s Edge” novellas.

> Is there a message in your novel that you want readers to grasp?

Stay is about losing faith and hope in love. But it’s mostly about finding it again, about second chances. In the most humbling review my books have received, a reader said that Stay, “motivates me to have hope that maybe true love it real.” My hope is that others will likewise be inspired and encouraged to believe again.

> What books have most influenced your life most?

L.M Montgomery, author of “Anne of Green Gables,” probably influenced my writing and life the most. An early feminist and rebel herself in a Victorian culture, Louisa wrote such strong female characters. Many of her stories were filled with lost loves and second chances. And I found myself wanting to see the world as she did, to paint words in a way that inspires other people.

> What are your current projects?

At the moment I’m working on the sequel to Stay. I didn’t start out planning a sequel to this stand-alone. Until the day I started writing the story of Rona’s daughter. I’m also writing a novella in-between for my fantasy series, “Vynasha”. But more on that title later.

> Did you learn anything from writing your book and what was it?

I took away an answer to my own question while writing “Stay.” I had come to a point where I didn’t believe in love anymore. I wasn’t sure what choice Rona was going to make. In the end I found out I wanted my second chance too. 🙂

Rona believes love is nothing more than a myth, a tale for little girls. Until the immortal ruler of the seas appears from thin air and she is swept into a dark and dangerous affair, turning myth into a grave reality.
Commanded to work as the savior of true love, Rona realizes that love is just an illusion as grandiose as magic and after two thousand years, she is ready to give up. Until the night a human, deep in the underbelly of the city that never sleeps, sees her. She recognizes him instantly, a lost love. Trouble is, he has no memory of her.
Tasked with mending a relationship between the love she lost thousands of years ago and another woman, Rona will have to learn what it means to be human all over again when past and present collide.
Can love transcend time or will Rona be forced to roam the earth alone, forever?
