The Hollow King

Thought by most to be a simple child’s chant…

A king of no kingdom
Who walks among the living yet is void of all but breathe
He will be known as the Hollow King and will yield the Spector.
The Warrior Queen with compassion will fuel the Hope
The one who walks on two legs but has the soul of an animal will guide the Spector’s magic.
Together they will use the Spector of Hope to rid the land of evil.

Until creatures most thought to be make-believe start to hunt at night… Freed by Ovezara, a sorceress of what seems to be unlimited power.

Queen Taraly dying father’s command is to visit Grandmother June and learn what must be done to stop them.

King Crenshaw has lost his kingdom to the Ovezara and vows to have revenge.

Sancha returns from a hunting trip to find his father’s body torn to shreds by an evil so dark people refuse to acknowledge it.

The three unite to find the fabled Spector of Hope. As their quest starts to unfold, they realize that the line between good and evil is often blurred. What they believed to good is twisted. Can they locate the Spector of Hope in time to restore good and save all from the evil Ovezara unleashes?

Just leave me a comment…and I’ll post the lucky winners on Saturday.

Free Read Monday

Every Monday and Saturday in October, I’m going to post a snippet from Inheriting a Curse at the end of the month, the entire novella will be available as a free download. All snippets will be ‘g’ rated (no swearing or sex) BUT the novella will have some hot scenes.

Recently Katie Alstrom’s life had been one bad event followed by another so when she received a letter from a lawyer saying she’d inherited a house on ten acres of woods in a remote part of Oregon, she thought her luck had changed. She packed up all her belongings and left the city to peruse her dream of being a full-time writer.

Only when she arrives, she finds her dream house is something out a horror movie complete with seven gargoyles under a curse.

Ashton has spent the last five hundred years as a gargoyle. The moment Katie steps into the house, he begins to wake. His only desire is to kill Katie in a slow painful way as retribution for placing him and his six warriors under the curse. Yet to break the curse, he must trust Katie.

Pax, Ashton’s loyal friend and second in command, must make his friend see reason before the end of the month, October 31 or they all will be condemned to spend the rest of eternity as gargoyles. As the days fly by, Pax finds himself faced with a bigger problem, he’s the one falling in love with Katie and the thought of Ashton touching her makes his blood boil.

Chapter 1

Katie Alstrom stood, frozen, unable to make any of her muscles move. Her brain was too busy screaming NO to relay the necessary messages to her nerves that would have her running away. Matter of fact, it was a struggle to breathe. In and out, she told herself. Forcing the cold September air into her lungs. Tears rolled her cheeks. She hated to cry. She never cried, yet here she stood in front of a complete stranger, bawling.

“Are you alright, Ms. Alstrom?” The town’s clerk asked. “Well, here are the keys.” She forced them into Katie’s hand before she could reply. “Welcome to Hapsville.”

By the time Katie could turn to ask the woman about local hotels she could stay at, the woman’s car was disappearing down the long drive. Katie turned back to the house. She was fairly positive the Adam’s family would have found the place too creepy to stay in. Three large gargoyles were perched above dormers. Another loomed over the door and two more resided on the ground next to the stairs. And a massive one with wings stretched wide and hideous snarl at hate on it’s face sat on the chimney.

Her inheritance from an aunt she’d never heard of. The place she was going make her dreams come true. She should have known her luck hadn’t changed. After being let go from her job and dumped by her boyfriend, she’d thought inheriting the house had been a shift in karma.

“I must have been a serial killer of puppies in a previous life,” she whispered. The only explanation she had for being on the receiving end of such awful karma. She really wanted to follow the clerk but she had nowhere else to go. A muffled bark, forced her attention away from the house to her car. Gillian barked and clawed at the window.

She’d found the dog three years ago, abandoned in the alley behind the apartment complex where she’d lived. He’d been a cute small puppy, she’d taken home cleaned up and cuddled. Now he was a hundred and five-pound bed hog. Sighing, she walked toward the car. She’d terminated her lease thinking this would be the start over, she needed to become a full time writer.

Opening the car door, Gillian leapt out and raced toward a squirrel. The squirrel scurried up a tree and sat on a bare branch chattering an endless string of taunts.

(skipping ahead to the end of the chapter)

“Are you sure, she’s the one?” A harsh male voice whispered.

Gillian growled and pressed against Katie’s legs confirming the whispers weren’t in her head. She’d hoped the voice had been a hallucination caused by exhaustion. No such luck.

“I’m positive. You dare to doubt me?” A woman’s voice retorted.

Flinging the blankets back, Katie swung her legs off the bed. “Come on let’s see who our house guest are.”

As she stood, a roar tore through the night making the windows rattle and the floor shake.

“I told you, she’s the one.” The woman’s voice now held a smugness to it. “Now, the trick is keeping him from killing her.”

Weekend Read

This weekend read is the first in a trilogy… T1

Rosaline: An Epic Tale of Stolen Love Book # 1 (The Transcendence Trilogy) by PENELOPE MARSHALL

Penelope Marshall was born in the Philippines, and raised in Southern California.

She picked up writing in early 2016 and instantly fell in love with the craft. Her writing runs the romance gamut from sweet romantic comedies, to tough alpha male military suspense thrillers, with a little young adult, and paranormal thrown into the mix.

A good plot twist is what drives Penelope’s writing, striving for that jaw dropping moment at the end of each book.

It’s been said that love knows no bounds. But perhaps there are forces in the world that keep love at bay. Forces working together to separate the gravitational pull of two souls meant to intertwine.

Would such forces be considered evil? Or would they be of sullen heart, buried in the stench of scorn and betrayal?

After all, what is love but a chemical reaction induced by neurons and electrons banging against one another in some random fashion?

But what if love were predestined, written in the book of life by an omniscient author?

What if love could be harnessed to raise armies…to sink ships?

Then love would no longer be a chance meeting in the meadows of life. Love would be a game played with pawns and castles between kings and queens.

And sometimes…just sometimes the players come veiled in myth and tale.

Such is the story of Rosaline and Gideon…

Friday Read

This week’s Friday Read is a romance fantasy (the blend of both of my worlds so you know I love it). And while my reading list for April is to focus on authors whose last names start with G/H (see reading list 2016), I’m skipping ahead this weekend (you know me and shiny objects or good books).

‘Romance, Magic, Action…Illusional Reality has it all.’ Emily Woodmansee

Illusional Reality Blurb:

Nobody expects to stare death in the face only to find out your entire life is a lie. Rescued by Salco, marketing executive Becky finds herself in an unknown magical world filed with happy people that try to forget their land is on the brink of destruction.

Becky will soon learn that her arrival is no accident. If learning that she is Thya, the heir of the enchanting land isn’t enough, she’s then told that an Oracle prophesied that she will save the gentle Tsinians from slavery and domination by Darthorn, the Warlord of Senx.

It is at a festival where she is introduced to the Tsinian council and her kinsmen, that she learns the whole truth. The council are so certain that a union between Darthorn’s son, Kovon and Thya will create peace between the two lands. However, Darthorn has plans for Tsinia as does Kovon for Thya and neither are good.

Although her future has been planned and if she is to save Tsinia she must marry Kovon, Thya gives her heart to another. A love that is forbidden and dangerous.

Illusional Reality is a story about hope, courage, love and sacrifice.

And if that didn’t make your purchase finger itch… here is the trailer Link:

Still not sure this should be your Friday Read???? Here’s a little more “persuasion”

Preparations were under way for Thya’s arrival. They had been expecting her since the writing of the first Oracle long ago. Omad, the head of the council, made sure everyone knew of her coming, for it was his task to prepare his people for the arrival of their princess. He’d left strict instructions that no one witness the arrival, or approach until he had conversed with her himself. It was his duty to inform Thya who she was, and of her destiny.

He felt anxious and nervous, yet not for himself. Tsinia was his home; but to an outsider, a human, it might seem like a mystical, dreamlike place. How was he to make her understand? Would she listen, and most importantly would she believe him? Too much was at stake. He could not fail. The fate of Tsinia lay in his hands.

Omad stretched and rubbed the back of his neck as he pondered over his revised speech. Would it be too much for her to take in? He nodded his head, feeling happy with his decision to inform her of her true identity. Telling her about the prophecy could wait. He didn’t relish that task.

Omad looked around the gold leaf covered throne room. Soon she would take her rightful place among her people and they would once again have a ruler, removing the burden from the Tsinian council. He clenched his trembling, clammy hands. He had been preparing for this moment since being appointed head, long ago.

His election had been a cause for celebration, the start of planned preparations to bring their queen home.

The council comprised of twelve elected Tsinians, those held in the highest regard. The head of the council was seated centrally in a semicircle of chairs, his seat raised so there could be no doubt of who was in charge. Council business was held in the Escos on the border of their land. Meetings were not open, and only by appointment could citizens address the council.

Omad sighed, remembering the feast held in his honour, the one time he had felt truly scared. The nomination was in recognition, yet to be chosen for a task with repercussions that could destroy Tsinia’s peaceful existence was something he wished hadn’t been entrusted to him.

There was much excitement and discussion about how Thya would become the saviour of them all, how her return would cause the warlord’s demise.

The Tsinians lived by the words of the Oracle, and although there was no indication of how Thya would save Tsinia from Darthorn’s domination, the people felt as though their troubles were over. They were so confident that for the first time in the history of their great land an Oracle was ignored.

Omad shivered as he recalled Athron confronting the council with the latest reading. Were they wrong to ignore the warning?

The Oracles were written upon ancient scrolls. It was a riddle that only a Zenith could read, for it was they who wrote them. The generations of Zeniths were male; born with the gift of Sight.

Omad remembered being awoken from his sleep by a very anxious Athron. He demanded the council assemble at once, and as a valued Tsinian, Omad took the urgency seriously.

“I would not have removed you from your slumber if I did not consider this to be of consequence,” Athron announced when the council had convened.

“Continue,” Omad said.

“The Oracle proclaims a warning.”

Omad, suddenly wide-awake, frowned. “Good Athron, decipher.”

Athron nodded and unrolled the scroll. “Not all will come to pass and though the saviour will return, she will not be delivered.”

The council whispered among themselves.

“Rephrase,” Omad said.

“Our lady will return. Regardless, she will not be whom you expect. The matrimony will not be entered upon. There is no alliance. For tis written so it will be.”

“Nonsense,” Tasarc retorted. “Tis ludicrous. The alliance is not established. All that is required is our lady’s sign.”

“And what if she does not sign?” Athron said.

Omad rose from his seat. There was silence. “I sympathise with your anxiety, Athron. We all are concerned with our future. However, as our good friend Tasarc remarked, the alliance will precede. As for our lady not receiving us, tis her duty as princess of Tsinia to aid her kinsmen. I am confident that once she returns, all will be well. Do not distress.” Omad then reseated.

Athron continued, “I pray you are accurate. The fact is the Oracles have never been unjust. Do not shut your eyes to the truth.”

Athron had spoken out of turn and Omad had to show strength in front of his peers. He stood abruptly from his seat. “Tis proper you have brought this to our attention. You will retire,” he ordered.

Only Athron did not turn to leave. “You sight only what you want. Free your eyes!”

“Silence,” Omad growled.

The council gasped with dismay, for they had never before heard Omad raise his voice.

“Dare you judge me? I will not justify myself to you.” He then lowered his voice. “Athron, I hold you in the highest esteem. Be assured we will review the Oracle and rule on the correct outcome. Depart—now.”

Athron left, yet he was not satisfied. He spoke his thoughts aloud, “By the name of Zenith, I am compelled for them to listen. It will be taken earnestly.”

Deciding on his next action, he called upon Nimas, the wise one. If anyone had a hold over the council, it was Nimas.

Nimas listened intently as Athron read him the Oracle.

“And Omad expressed?” Nimas quizzed.

“Omad declared the council would review the issue, only I judge they do not take the Oracle earnestly.”

“Are you confident of this, Athron?”

“I am, Nimas. I am hoping you could converse with Omad, press him on the urgency. It will be a grave error if the Oracle is ignored.”

“Athron, I have taken heed. Nonetheless, I concur with Omad. The contract between our two nations is almost complete. I am certain you misread the interpretation.”

“Will not one heed me?” Athron shouted in dismay. “There will not be an alliance. Tis not the means. Since when has an Oracle been false?”

Nimas sighed. “Omad is the appointed one. He alone has planned for adjustments. If, as you state, it does not come to pass, I am certain Omad can resolve the issue. Athron, I am weary. I will rest, go you to the door.”

Nimas left the agitated Athron alone.

It was the first time the Oracles had been ignored and Athron felt as though he had shamed the name of Zenith. Perhaps he had not explained the meaning correctly.

Athron tried to reason with Omad repeatedly, only to no avail. The council had made up their mind to disregard the Oracle. They concurred that Athron, for the first time, had made an error in his interpretation.

Now, as Omad waited for his princess’ arrival, he regretted treating Athron disrespectfully. Should he have taken heed? Only it did not make sense. If the Tsinians’ alliance with the Senxs did not result in peace, what was Thya’s calling?

In celebration of a really great time of the year- Halloween AND my Halloween romance suspense – Knock Knock. I’m going to give away these two wine glasses and chocolate….

photo 2 photo 1

New to Kanna, Florida, Lila Maxwell attends All Treats, a Halloween speed dating event in the hopes of meeting Prince Charming but instead one Halloween ghoul after another appears at her door until Cowboy Bill.

Jax Carlson has spent the last year focusing all of his attention on starting his own business. Hiring Lila Maxell over the Internet as his project manager was the completing task. Set to open for business in three days, Jax plans on spending a couple of days on his boat relaxing. However, his friend Erik has a different idea – a speed dating Halloween party.

Jax has spent the night plotting the best revenge possible for Erik until Sally opens the door. The woman dressed in the pale lavender Harem costume ignites a fire that Jax thought was impossible without the aid of his formulated dating list.

After a night of mind blowing sex, Lila sneaks out before they exchange real names believing it was no more than a one-night stand.

When Lila reports to work she learns Cowboy Bill is actually Jax Carlson. She thinks keeping her hormones in check while convincing Jax that love doesn’t follow a formula is complication enough until she learns the participants of the All Treats speed dating event are being killed.

My Halloween Romance Suspense...

Knock Knock… Answer if you dare

“A lover’s moon,” a woman’s voice came from her left.

Lila looked over at the woman dressed up like Snow White. Her black wig hung a little askew and her lips appeared swollen.

“Local legend says lovers would arrange to meet in the glades using the light of the moon to find their way. If he got lost on his way, then the love wasn’t real because the beams only light the path for those with the truest hearts.” Snow White lifted a bottle of pre-mixed strawberry daiquiri. “A night of true love.” She toasted the air.

“What about those who just stumble along the sidewalk and find your door?” Lila asked trying to convince herself that the woman had to have had a better selection of date applications than she.

Snow White shook her head and readjusted her neckline so the tops of both nipples showed. “No. The moon will only guide those who are meant to be together, even if their true love only last fifteen minutes.”

“Has Robin Hood been to your room yet?” Lila asked still a little more than uncomfortable with the set-up of this event. Turning, she eyed the three security guards dressed as the Keystone cops standing in the parking lot. Going into an empty motel room with a stranger sent nervous bumps racing along her arms, even if the Keystone cops were the size of moving mountains.

“I think you may change your mind if he were to show up.” Lila stepped back inside and closed the door. “Or I’m the only sane one here.” She went to get her purse deciding she’d had enough of meeting future dates to last her a lifetime. “Becoming a crazy old lady who lives alone and collects stuffed animals isn’t really that bad,” she told herself. A sharp knock echoed through the room. “Damn it,” she growled.

How could she leave now? Dropping her purse back on the floor, she stomped across the room making the bells on her ankles and hips chime. She jerked the door open ready for yet another speed dating nightmare. Instead a cowboy from every girl’s dream stood there. Well over six feet tall, his dark eyes bore into her as if challenging her to speak. His sharp jaw line with a cleft chin, tight smile, and chiseled cheek bones added to the rugged cowboy good looks. She let her gaze wander over the plaid shirt pulled tight across his broad chest. Dropping her eyes lower, her smile grew. The chaps and worn jeans did an excellent job of highlighting his dick.

At least this one was eye candy.

“Welcome to my oasis,” she waved a hand and stepped back. “I’m a single girl harem waiting to make all your fantasies come true.” She’d been waiting all night to use that line. Instead of chuckle or even a smile he shoved his card at her and grumbled something that she took to be a hello. Glancing down at the card, she read his name.

“Glad to meet you cowboy Bill. I’m harem girl Sally.” She had no doubt Bill wasn’t his real first name so they both had been smart enough to lie when filling out their introduction card.

Again his response was a grumble. Looks to make your blood boil combined with a dreamy body, though he couldn’t talk. Sighing, she watched his ass as he crossed the room. She could deal with the lack of vocal skills.

The point and grunt caveman thing was doable when an ass looked like his in faded jeans.

Summer All Year

I’d like to welcome Em Petrova to my blog. She’s talking about keeping it Summer All Year AND has a great excerpt from EM_SpurredOn_coversm (3)

AND is offering a give away from her backlist 🙂

The kids are out of the house and back to school here in backwoods Pennsylvania. For a mother of four elementary-age children, I have reservations about fall.

I love when the house is quiet and I’m able to work uninterrupted for 6 hours a day. Then again, I hate homework, packing lunches, signing stacks of papers, and shuttling kids to after school activities. Sometimes I just want to keep the kiddos home for an impromptu week of summer. “Sorry, teachers, we’re on hiatus.”

All of our lives are so busy with work and family that sometimes we forget to play. Here are a few things I might do to stay relaxed and find my inner “summer” no matter what time of year it is.

• Go to a concert
• All-day movie marathon (in our house, it’s Harry Potter)
• Pack a picnic—even in the winter, you can do a carpet picnic
• Find a new trail to walk or bike
• Shop online for some frivolous summer item—like flip flops or a swimsuit
• Buy a scented candle that reminds you of summer
• Romp with you kids/pets outside
• Do yard work. You’d be surprised how fun gardening is in late autumn right before snow hits
• Research next year’s vacation spot
• Do a weekend getaway at a bed and breakfast
• Read all day

These are just a few ideas. What can you come up with? I’d love to hear how you hold on to summer in your life and slow things down. Leave a comment for a chance to win your choice of e-book from my backlist!

Read on for a quick, hot excerpt from SPURRED ON, my latest release from Loose Id.

She drew so close he could have simply lowered his head to claim her mouth. The hairs on his body prickled with awareness. The need to lash her to his body and beg her with his tongue to give him a second chance boiled his blood.
He clamped his hands into fists.
When Zoe Beth took a step back, she helped him reclaim some of his sanity. He needed to keep his distance from her, or he’d land himself on the other side of the Cole Ranch boundary—on his ass.
She raked her fingers through her silky hair and stole his mind all over again. “I heard the guys talking. You need to act normal.”
He shook his head. “Normal? I haven’t said anything about the other night—”
“Shhh! You ass, be quiet before someone hears you!” She curled her hand around his forearm, sending a spike of want straight to his cock. It stretched instantly.
“What are you talking about?” His tone was harsher than he wanted—gritty.
“I heard some of the guys talking. They said you were flighty. Prowling the ranch at night and not sleeping.”
“That’s because of you, dammit.”
“If you’re not careful—” Her eyes flared wide. “Because of me?”
“Yes, goddammit. I can’t think of anything but that night with you in the barn and how I should have finished it. How much I want to finish it.” The roughness in his voice changed pitch, burning low to match the cravings of his body.
“I…I’m trying to save you from losing your job.”
Sinking in the depths of her eyes, he closed the last fraction between their bodies and hooked an arm around her. She tried to wiggle away, but he planted a palm on her ass and held her.
“I’m not going to lose my job for working hard day and night, which is what I’ve been doing, sweetheart. The only thing that’s going to get me kicked off the ranch is this.” He claimed her mouth.
The first brush of her lips stole all rational thought. Suddenly he didn’t care that they were out in broad daylight right behind the house where anyone could spy them. All he wanted was Zoe Beth’s sweet mouth, her tongue moving with his.
She reacted by swaying into his kiss, opening her mouth to his invasion. But at the first sweep of his tongue, she yanked free. Stumbling away a few steps she raised trembling fingers to her lips. “No. Just no,” she whispered.
He closed the gap between them again, catching her around the waist. He nuzzled her throat. “I shouldn’t have walked away from you that night. I’ve regretted it every second since.”
A shiver coursed through her. “Every second?” Her voice rushed past his ear, a weak version of her usual throaty tone.
He closed his eyes, filling his head with her delectable scents. “Every…” He licked her earlobe. “Damn…” Ran his tongue down the column of her throat. “Second.” Flicked a path along her collarbone.
She melted in his arms. “I’ve thought about it every damn second too.”
A growl left him, and he lifted his head to capture her lips once again. The kiss spiraled out of control, a carnal meshing of tongues and lips and teeth. He rocked his erection against her pussy, raising a moan from her. He walked her backward and trapped her against the wall of the house.
Bracing his hands on either side of her chest, he continued to plunder her soft lips.
“Stop,” she murmured.
“You don’t want that.”
“No, but there are things to be said.”
“And we can’t do this here. Now.”
She’s right.
He pulled back. As soon as she was free, she paced away from him until they stood about ten yards apart.
Across the sun-dappled lawn, they stared at each other. “Tonight,” he said.
She nodded. “At Five Feet’s stall.”
A grin stretched across his face. “The calf’s doing well.”
Joy flitted across her features. “She is.” Tripod wandered into the backyard and ran up to Zoe Beth. Darting a glance at the dog, she said, “I’d better go.”
He gave a nod. “Go but don’t think about standing me up. If you do, I’ll come into the house after you.”
She spun on her heel and flounced farther away. “You try it, and I’ll sic my dog on you.”
As she walked away, he watched her round ass sway, then allowed his gaze to travel down each tanned leg. “I’m not afraid of your dog, sweetheart.”
“Not now that you know you won’t need rabies shots.” She turned the corner, out of sight. But she was still within earshot.
“Zoe Beth!”
Her reply was muted. “Yeah?”
“Every damn second.”

Hot Summer Heroes Blog Hop

Sexy athletic bodyWelcome to my stop on the Hot Summer Hero blog hop!!!

I’ll be giving away swag to three winners randomly picked from the comments. Swag will be from my three summer novella’s (Spike, Take a Risk, and Kick Start) that feature Hot Heroes 🙂

What makes a hero hot???

I thought I’d list my top five ‘hot hero’ features:

1) They all have killer eyes. I dated a guy in high school with the most amazing green eyes and they say you always carry a part of your first love with you (shhh don’t tell my hubby) so that characteristic always makes it into the book.
2) I tend to write my heroes from a more ‘ground’ level than a ‘super’ bad ass level but they tend to have a little more edgy career – never the military type of thing. In Taking a Risk, Nike does extreme vacations that include kayaking down the Amazon. In Spike, Brody is a top ranked professional beach volleyball player. Then in Kick Start, Dez is a motocross racer.
3) They are also willing to admit when they have screwed up. Matter of fact that is Brody’s (Spike) main goal, to make Rae understand he knows that he was an ass.
4) A sense of humor. Robert Downey Jr. is a perfect example of the type of humor I love my heroes to have.
5) Accepts the heroine as she is… I’ve read a book recently where the hero was all about changing the heroine and in the end she did conform – realizing it was better. I’m not talking a dangerous habit – ie drinking, drugs – I’m talking about her personality. In this book the heroine liked to roam the mountain side and tend her gardens, the hero found this dangerous and unseemly. In the end, she planted everything near their house. To me this made the hero not an alpha but a jerk. I like my hero and heroine to come to the table on an equal foot and then it’s about accepting the other as is.

So those are my five hero traits. Thanks for stopping by and don’t forget to leave a comment so you have a chance to win my swag and the grand prize.

Jagger in case you missed him on Monday. I’d let him rescue me…

They don’t hit it off in the beginning….

“What do you mean by that?” Maddie glared at him. Her piercing blue eyes generating enough heat, Jagger worried they might start an avalanche. “My place is in the kitchen.”

The kitchen wasn’t the room he wanted Maddie in or what he meant. Before he could explain, she spun on heels giving him a wonderful view of her ass as she stormed out of the room.

Unconventional Birthday Celebrations…

Welcome to the Ella Jade’s Birthday Blog Hop… Ellas Turning What Blog Hop Graphic

I have to admit as a child I didn’t have great birthday celebrations. I’ve only come to really enjoy my birthday in the last fifteen years or so. The reason for this…. My birthday is December 30th 😛 As the oldest of four children my birthday gift was included in with my Christmas presents and I couldn’t have a party because everyone was busy with the holidays. Then as I got older no one wanted to go out on my birthday because New Year’s Eve was the next night – okay everyone let’s hear a big ‘ohhhh.’

My daughter was born on November 30th, my husband’s birthday is December 7th, and my son’s is December 19th – GEEEEZZZZ. So because I didn’t want my kiddos to have the same disappointing birthday memories I do I came up with the half birthday celebrations. June is a good month for us financial and the kids are just finishing school so it was easy to track-down friends when they were younger for parties. Hubby and I could afford a nice dinner out and a movie to celebrate ours. AND I could buy some really cute sandals – my ‘birthday’ present.

My other son is born on St. Patrick’s day. Well, that just begged for all sorts of unconventional birthday celebrations. I’ve done Irish folktales, treasure hunts (the leprechaun’s pot of gold), etc. Now that he is in college, green beer pretty much covers it.
I came up with these unusually ways to celebrate their birthdays because I feel it is sooooo important for a child/adult to realize that they are valued. That their birth is celebrated because without my kiddos life would SUCK!!

In Spike – Rae’s birthday isn’t covered but she feels that her life doesn’t really matter. It isn’t until Brody returns that she sees what an impact she has on those around her. Brody is a member of a top beach volleyball team and yet he hasn’t ever been able to forget Rae.

Leave me a comment 😀 Up for grabs is the grand prize of a $100 gift certificate to Barnes and Noble or Amazon (your choice). And I’m giving away this cool cup ideal for the beach filled with lip balms.
To continue the hop…
