In celebration of a really great time of the year- Halloween AND my Halloween romance suspense – Knock Knock. I’m going to give away these two wine glasses and chocolate….
New to Kanna, Florida, Lila Maxwell attends All Treats, a Halloween speed dating event in the hopes of meeting Prince Charming but instead one Halloween ghoul after another appears at her door until Cowboy Bill.
Jax Carlson has spent the last year focusing all of his attention on starting his own business. Hiring Lila Maxell over the Internet as his project manager was the completing task. Set to open for business in three days, Jax plans on spending a couple of days on his boat relaxing. However, his friend Erik has a different idea – a speed dating Halloween party.
Jax has spent the night plotting the best revenge possible for Erik until Sally opens the door. The woman dressed in the pale lavender Harem costume ignites a fire that Jax thought was impossible without the aid of his formulated dating list.
After a night of mind blowing sex, Lila sneaks out before they exchange real names believing it was no more than a one-night stand.
When Lila reports to work she learns Cowboy Bill is actually Jax Carlson. She thinks keeping her hormones in check while convincing Jax that love doesn’t follow a formula is complication enough until she learns the participants of the All Treats speed dating event are being killed.
Knock Knock… Answer if you dare
“A lover’s moon,” a woman’s voice came from her left.
Lila looked over at the woman dressed up like Snow White. Her black wig hung a little askew and her lips appeared swollen.
“Local legend says lovers would arrange to meet in the glades using the light of the moon to find their way. If he got lost on his way, then the love wasn’t real because the beams only light the path for those with the truest hearts.” Snow White lifted a bottle of pre-mixed strawberry daiquiri. “A night of true love.” She toasted the air.
“What about those who just stumble along the sidewalk and find your door?” Lila asked trying to convince herself that the woman had to have had a better selection of date applications than she.
Snow White shook her head and readjusted her neckline so the tops of both nipples showed. “No. The moon will only guide those who are meant to be together, even if their true love only last fifteen minutes.”
“Has Robin Hood been to your room yet?” Lila asked still a little more than uncomfortable with the set-up of this event. Turning, she eyed the three security guards dressed as the Keystone cops standing in the parking lot. Going into an empty motel room with a stranger sent nervous bumps racing along her arms, even if the Keystone cops were the size of moving mountains.
“I think you may change your mind if he were to show up.” Lila stepped back inside and closed the door. “Or I’m the only sane one here.” She went to get her purse deciding she’d had enough of meeting future dates to last her a lifetime. “Becoming a crazy old lady who lives alone and collects stuffed animals isn’t really that bad,” she told herself. A sharp knock echoed through the room. “Damn it,” she growled.
How could she leave now? Dropping her purse back on the floor, she stomped across the room making the bells on her ankles and hips chime. She jerked the door open ready for yet another speed dating nightmare. Instead a cowboy from every girl’s dream stood there. Well over six feet tall, his dark eyes bore into her as if challenging her to speak. His sharp jaw line with a cleft chin, tight smile, and chiseled cheek bones added to the rugged cowboy good looks. She let her gaze wander over the plaid shirt pulled tight across his broad chest. Dropping her eyes lower, her smile grew. The chaps and worn jeans did an excellent job of highlighting his dick.
At least this one was eye candy.
“Welcome to my oasis,” she waved a hand and stepped back. “I’m a single girl harem waiting to make all your fantasies come true.” She’d been waiting all night to use that line. Instead of chuckle or even a smile he shoved his card at her and grumbled something that she took to be a hello. Glancing down at the card, she read his name.
“Glad to meet you cowboy Bill. I’m harem girl Sally.” She had no doubt Bill wasn’t his real first name so they both had been smart enough to lie when filling out their introduction card.
Again his response was a grumble. Looks to make your blood boil combined with a dreamy body, though he couldn’t talk. Sighing, she watched his ass as he crossed the room. She could deal with the lack of vocal skills.
The point and grunt caveman thing was doable when an ass looked like his in faded jeans.
